White and Red Assam Peacock Gamcha

Gamcha is called gamosa in Assam. While the gamcha is most commonly used as a towel, in Assam it also holds great symbolic value. Bihu dancers tie it around their heads and sometimes around their waists to mark the festivities. Gamosas are offered to elders as a mark of respect. They are also used to line prayer altars.

These handloom gamochas are elegant enough to be worn as a scarf, as well as being darn practical. In white and red, these are stunning works of art. 27” x 52”
